Abstract As 1961 began, John Bolton re-joined CSIRO in early January. On 24 February 1961, a meeting of the 210-foot Radio Telescope Committee (aka GRT) was held with Bowen (chair), Minnett (secretary), Pawsey, Beard, Higgs, Bolton, Cooper, Day, Mathewson, McCready and McGee. Pawsey had prepared document 2 days earlier that set out plan action for GRT; construction expected to be completed by August 1961. described Phase 1 tests new aerial, consisting determinations shape dish, pointing accuracy as function position, wind temperature. An example determination “… directional patterns at various polarisations access dish accuracy, radio axis … The measurements will require series sources known positions distributed over coverage telescope.”
